Welcome to Maass Media!

My goal for this blog is to share the music I listen to with as many people as possible.  If this is your first time here, all you need to know is that everyday I post good songs from different genres of music.  There is a list of genres on the left - clicking on a genre will lead you to a list of songs (with links to hear them) that I have posted on my blog.

Any time you see a portion of text in brown that means it's a link.  If you want to leave a comment, click on the comment box at the bottom of the post you want to comment on.  Rock on!

Your Daily Dose of Jam, 09/10/09

Football season is officially underway with the Steelers handing the Titans the first loss of the year.  Things look pretty bleak for Tennessee right now; they're on pace to go 0-16 on the season.  Yuck.  The game looked like it would be a defensive struggle on paper, and it turned out to be just that. Big Ben led the Steelers to victory in overtime, passing for over 350 yards despite recording only one touchdown.  The Titans absolutely stuffed Pittsburgh at the line.  Even without Albert Haynesworth that line is dominant.  The game made me reminisce of the days when the Steelers had a respectable, if not dominant ground game.  Back when Willie Parker didn't need 10 carries to run, well, 10 yards.  Maybe they'll finally give it to Mendenhall more and make my buddies down at U of I happy.

If you're like me, and you benched Santonio Holmes this week, life sucks. Here's a video of John Madden drawing a penis on live television to lighten the mood.

"They get in kinda a big mess here"

In other sports news the New York Mets called up a very intriguing pitching prospect today.  Don't know who?  I'll give you a hint.  He once threw a one-hitter and it had nothing to do with baseball.  Still don't know?  I'm talking about right-hander Tobi Stoner.  Sounds like someone who could've played for the Cubbies back in the 70's.  Rumor has it one of the old Alou brothers playing for the Cubs at the time fell asleep when he was in the outfield.  Didn't even move when the ball was hit to him.  Anyways, Stoner's made my list of amusing names in baseball.  He should feel proud, it's a hard list to crack, with guys such as...

Boof Bonser
Coco Crisp
Chris Bootcheck
Dick Pole
Krispie Young
Jimmy Gobble

Today seems like a good day for some Umphrey's McGee.  Truthfully, every day is good for Umphrey's.  Here's one of my personal faves, Glory.  The song really picks up after the 2:55 mark, but I recommend listening to the entire thing.  It's hard to find a song that builds up as well as Glory - I've never heard a version where they don't rock out and just sound awesome at the end.

Peace!
